PASIGHAT, Jun 6: In a major boost to education sector in the Monggu Banggo area (Lower Mebo) at Ngopok village, the biggest village under Mebo Sub-division, the Government Upper Primary School is undergoing a major facelift thanks to voluntary donations of alumnus and well-wishers of the school where no single penny of government is being used.
While inspecting the ongoing work today, the Dy. Director of School Education, East Siang, Jongge Yirang accompanied by District Project Directors, SSA, Obang Taloh and RMSA, Tamo Tatak said that, the entire renovation and refurbishing works are being carried out by the voluntary donations received from alumnus as well as well-wishers from across the district and state.
“UPS Ngopok which was established during 1964 was lying dilapidated since long and children from this largest village of Mebo Sub-Division were deprived of basic education facilities,” said DDSE Jongge Yirang who also hails from Ngopok village and did his early schooling from there. According to Yirang, he wanted to show others that schools can be made functional and beautified for better education of children without government funds.
Meanwhile, a meeting for fulfillment of required subject teachers was also held.
