ITANAGAR, May 13:
Dasanglu Pul, MLA Hayuliang Constituency got major relief from the Supreme Court, as hearing the SLP(C) No.9420/2023, the state's apex court considered that appeal shall be listed for hearing on September 6 next.
‘In the meantime, the elections to the Constituency which was being represented by the petitioner shall not be held. Further, the petitioner shall be entitled to all privileges as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and to participate in all the proceedings in the house and in the Committees, but she shall not be entitled to cast her vote on the floor of the house and in any of the Committees where she participates in the capacity as a Member of the Legislative Assembly’added the Order.
Earlier, Lupalum Kri, the Congress candidate who lost to Dasanglu Pul in 2019, moved the high court challenging her win, saying she did not declare her husband’s properties in Mumbai and two in Arunachal Pradesh in her election affidavit. He added her nomination was accepted despite his objections.
In April last, the Gauhati High Court’s Itanagar bench declared the election of Dasanglu Pul, a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker in Arunachal Pradesh, null and void under the Representation of People Act for concealing information about her properties in her election affidavit.
