ITANAGAR, Jan 3: Director of Secondary Education, Marken Kadu, on Wednesday, said that the salaries of guest teachers recruited under the Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Kosh Yojana (MMSKY) will be disbursed within a week.
Speaking to reporters, Kadu said that authorization of the bill has been completed, and the bill will be passed in a couple of days. Simultaneously, the bill will be cleared within a week.  He said that the teachers were deprived of their salaries for the past five months due to various government procedures.
However, today, the procedure has been completed, and soon the salaries will be disbursed.
For those who resigned from the job due to some reasons, Kadu said that the salaries of those teachers will be credited for their work. But salaries will not be given to those teachers who did not perform their duties.
“We have to follow government procedure to avail the bills for the guest faculty. We are also sorry for the delay in disbursement of the salaries of the guest faculties. But now I am happy to announce that it will be credited soon,” he added.
Kadu said that the department initially approved 752 guest faculty as per the need for subject teachers in different districts.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) Assistant Education Secretary, Lingdum Kame, said that the MMSKY implemented in the year 2022 by the state government is purely to fill the gap for the need of subject teachers. The information regarding the delay in disbursement of salaries of the teachers were received by the union in the month of November last year.
Subsequently, the AAPSU had submitted a representation to the education department raising concern over the matter in the month of December. Moreover, the union made a follow up to ensure that the salaries of the teachers are being credited soon.
“We are positive by the response from the director of secondary education. He has assured to release the entire salaries of the guest faculties within a week,” he said.
In August 2022, the MMSKY was introduced, replacing the Chief Minister Samagrah Shiksha Yojana (CMSSY). The initiative aimed to address the shortage of subject teachers in government higher secondary schools (GHSS) and government secondary schools (GSS).
However, the scheme has left as many as 752 guest teachers in financial distress, with no honorarium payments for the last five months.
