AALO, Jun 13:A massive social service was conducted on voluntary basis by Memo Youth Welfare Association in collaboration with Pushi Bango Welfare Society in the stretch of road from Darka Bridge to Doke-Bam boundary on Tuesday. The Deputy Speaker Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Er. Tumke Bagra among other officials took part in the programme.

The maintenance of the Aalo-Likabali road was necessitated due to dilapidated road condition on the said stretch as a result of which commuters have abandoned this once vital road link which is also one of the oldest roads of the state connecting West and Lower Siang with the rest. The economic activities all along the road has also come to a standstill for a long time now and villagers are bracing a tough time to sell the fruits and vegetables grown in abundance on this route.

The Deputy Speaker, in his speech said that people will have to brace for hard times till Potin-Pangi is retendered and maintenance fund earmarked by government on priority basis takes off soon.

Chairman Monitoring Committee Tumnya Doji and Chairman MAYA Advocate Kenbom Bagra revealed that sporadic social service is the only alternative left with them to travel through a road which in horrible shape.

The social service was possible through cash and kind provided by the philanthropists and officers of MEMO areas. Such social service is being taken up at various stretches from Sipu bridge point to Bam tri junction from time to time for vehicles to ply.
