TORU, Jul 14:Union MoS Home, Kiren Rijiju visited the landslide hit area at Laptap village today. He was accompanied by former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki , NDRF IG Ravi Joseph, Secretary Disaster Management ,Jokey Angu and officers from central team.

MoS Rijiju inspected the landslide hit area and interacted with the locals and victim family. Consoling the family members, he assured that government will provide every possible help and handed over Rs.10 lakh.

He further lauded the joint effort of district administration, NDRF, Police, civil society in relief and rescue operations during the incident. He also informed that M/S Shusee Infra and Mining Pvt Ltd has been instructed to complete the restoration of road within one month and company has also agreed to compensate the victim family from their end and has been asked to provide job to at least two members of family in the company.

He also informed that MHA has already released Rs.51.48 crores for relief assistance to state Govt for flood and landslide damages. MoS made aerial survey to flood and landslides affected areas of Sagalee, Pakke Kesang, Parang etc before landing at Kheel helipad.

Earlier, Former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki apprised the MoS about present scenario of Sagalee Sub-Division and said that Sagalee is totally cut off from the rest of the world from last many days and requested the MoS to provide fund for immediate restoration of the roads and bridges damaged by the flood and landslides. Tuki also expressed his gratitude for timely assistance provided by the state government and hailed the NDRF team for their dedication and hard work.

Centre releases advance grant-in-aid of Rs.51.30 cr to Arunachal for rescue and relief operations

ITANAGAR, Jul 14:The Centre has released in advance two installments of grant-in-aid to the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh towards Central share of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Due to heavy rains and floods in North East, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India has released Rupees 51 crore and 30 lakh as grant-in-aid to the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh on the basis of recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission for relief necessitated by natural calamities to the State. This amount is being released in advance for rescue and relief operations required on account of flash floods.
