ITANAGAR, Jul 13:Union MoS Kiren Rijiju today visited almost all the flood affected areas of the Capital Complex to assess and to take stock of the situation. He was accompanied by Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Urban Development Techi Kaso and DC Capital Complex Prince Dhawan.

The MoS first visited the Barapani Bridge where the DC briefed him about the precautionary measures that have been taken for the safety of the bridge. Rijiju enquired about the possibility of construction of a new bridge to which the DC informed that the proposal for the same has been placed in the second phase of the four laning of the highway. Rijiju asked the DC to prioritise and put up the proposal for the same in the first phase itself considering its importance as it is the only lifeline connecting Itanagar directly to Naharlagun. The EE Highway Nani Tath informed that specialists have been called to study and assess the condition of the bridge.

Taking stock of the situation along the NH-415 where major road damage has occurred near Dree Ground and car wash, the EE Highway informed that the soil at the landslide area is very loose. Around four tankers have been placed to supply water to Tomo Riba State Hospital only, added the DC. The EE (PHED) Tadar Mangku informed that since it is not possible to construct a new bridge owing to monsoon season, he informed that alternative ways are being worked out to facilitate supply of water to Naharlagun.
