RONO HILLS, Nov 27: The East Zone Inter University Football Tournament 2017 kicked off here at Rajiv Gandhi University playground today.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tamo Mibang and Prof. NC Roy graced the function as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Altogether, 47 Universities from across the region are participating the tournament with 23 teams participating in the parade and 24 teams expected to reach tomorrow.

Prof. Mibang at his key note stressed on the importance of sport ethics and exhorted the students to compete with discipline and ethics.

  The EZIU Football Tournament will continue for one week with the finale scheduled onDecember 3 next. The tournament will be a knocked out system.

 Earlier, the University Song “Shata shata nava Bandan Abhinadan Gyan Shaoth is mandir ka”was unveiled today. The song is composed by the Department of Music, RGU and the lyric was written by Prof. Tamo Riba, Registrar RGU.
