RONO HILLS, Aug 9:Number of students today participated in the candlelight vigil organized bythe Galo Students’ Union of Rajiv Gandhi University under the aegis of the Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union here at the University campus. The vigil was observed in memory of late Migrik Lomi Karga who was brutally murdered in her rented apartment at Lekhi Village in July this year.

General Secretary, RGUSU, Prem Taba, said students come to the capital region for further studies but it has been recently proved that living in the capital region has become nightmarish with increase in crime rate.

Police department and capital administration have failed miserably in terms of providing safety to the common public, he said and urged the police to expedite the case and arrest the culprit to provide justice to the deceased and her family.

Advocate Mepe Ete, a relative of the deceased suggested that there should be enough coaching institutes in Arunachal. ‘Had she not come for the stenography classes she would have been alive today,’ he said while urging the young students to rise and fight against crimes.

RGUSU and Galo SURGU also decided to write a representation letter to the Home minister and the IGP Itanagar. President and GS Galo SURGU also spoke during the program.
