ITANAGAR, Aug 3:The Governor, PB Acharya on Thursday held a meeting with Vice Chancellor, RGU along with members of Rajiv Gandhi University Student union to discuss various issues regarding the development of the university at Raj Bhawan.

During the meeting the visiting team submitted a memorandum highlighting issues related to infrastructure development of the university, tender works of university being given to locals of the area without floating any tenders.

Terming the matter being raised by the RGUSU as of serious nature, the governor advised the VC to act autonomously without any fear and assured to provide all kinds of support from the state government if the local people do not cooperate.

Governor pointed out that the projects costing more than 25 lakhs should be floated and even the University should abide by it and asked the VC to ensure that Open-tender is floated on time as per norms and rules of CPWD.

Upon being enquired about conditions of few buildings which developed cracks and is posing threat to lives of students, VC Tamo Mibang clarified that the said buildings were started during the time of the former VC.

The VC also agreed to the claim made by the Union that 90 percent of contract works are given to the local people of Doimukh without any Tender due to pressure from the local people. The VC also said that there is no such thing as an MOU of some sort made between the University and the locals of Doimukh.

After threadbare discussions, the governor assured to discuss the issues with the CM and make sure there is transparency in construction activities in RGU.
