PASIGHAT, Aug 26: 

A rescued Slow Loris from 2 Mile area of Pasighat was safely released in the Pasighat Reserve Forest by a team of rescuers in the presence of Range Officer today.

 

The adult Slow Loris, called ‘Besung Raaye’ in Adi was found hanging in an electric pole on Thursday night near a Petrol Pump and people were shouting and throwing stones at it.

A young boy had captured and hidden it somewhere in his house near Sawmill, but a team of rescuers led by State Wildlife Board Member cum Journalist, Maksam Tayeng, Obang Tapak, Chairman, Daying Ering Wildlife Foundation Eco-Development Society and Lungkang Ering, President, ABSU (E) rescued the animal and informed the forest official for its safe release.

 

 

RFO Pasighat Range, Jumge Geyi appreciated the effort of the rescuers and felt that the frequent entry of Slow Loris in human habitats is a matter of concern. While State Wildlife Board Member Tayeng suggested for a research work by wildlife expert on finding out the reason for their occasional entry in human settlement areas as several such endangered species has already been rescued and released here in the town earlier.
