Itanagar, Apr 22: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered re-polling in eight polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh following reports of electronic voting machines (EVM) damage and violence during the simultaneous polls to the Lok Sabha and State Assembly held on April 19. In an order on Sunday, the Election Commission declared the polling in the eight polling stations as void and ordered fresh polling on April 24 from 6 am to 2 pm. 
The polling stations where repoll would be held include, Sario in Bameng assembly constituency in East Kameng district, Longte Loth under Nyapin assembly seat in Kurung Kumey, Dingser, Bogiya Siyum, Jimbari and Lengi polling booths under Nacho constituency in Upper Subansiri district. 
Repoll will also be held in Bogne and Molom polling booths under the Rumgong assembly constituency in Siang district. 
An estimated 76.44 per cent of the total 8,92,694 voters turned out for voting in the Assembly election and 72.74 percent for the parliamentary constituency election, held on April 19.
The ruling BJP has already won 10 assembly seats unopposed.
The candidates include Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his deputy Chowna Mein. The others are Ratu Techi, Jikke Tako, Nyato Dukam, Mutchu Mithi, Hage Appa, Techi Kaso, Dongru Siongju and Dasanglu Pul.
Arunachal has had a history on uncontestedvictories in Assembly polls. Four candidates had won unopposed in 1999, one in 2004, three in 2009, 11 in 2014 and three in 2019.
