ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Good news for theatre aficionados in the state, the National school of drama (NSD) is all set to organize its 10th Poorvottar Natya Samaroh here in the state capital. 

Popular theatre groups from across the Northeast  will be participating with few of their creative playwriting in the 9-day long event,  which will kickstart this coming 19th and will continue till the 28th at Siddharta hall,  Itanagar. 

The NSD is organising the event in association with Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and sponsored by Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Govt of India. 

This was disclosed by renowned theatre artist cum former student of NSD, Riken Ngomle in a press conference held this afternoon at the Press Club. 

Addressing the reporters, Ngomle said that there will a total of 10 plays, reflecting the culture and traditions of various states which will be performed by renowned theatre experts from the Northeast states. 

Speaking about his motive and continuous effort to popularise theatre among the young generation in Arunachal, Ngomle said "Theatre is not just a form of entertainment but if showcased in a creative way it can be used as means to educate people and audience about the hidden elements within society.” 

Admitting that theatre has a long way to go to prosper in Arunachal, Ngomle hoped that the gap will be filled one day and people will start recognizing the artistry and hard work of theatre artists. 

Ngomle who is the curator of the event will present "Abotani and dudnaam" as the opening play of the event, which is expected to be inaugurated by Minister, AR & Veterinary, Dr. Mahesh Chai.
