BOMDILA, May 3:The assessment camps for the senior citizens and persons with disabilities for providing aids and appliances under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and assistance to persons with disabilities respectively took off in the district with the first 2- day camp beginning from May 2 at Dirang.
The Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana which was launched last year by the Government of India is a pilot project and West Kameng is one among the 182 districts selected in the country for implementation of the project.
The assessment camps are being held in the eleven administrative circles of the district to cover maximum number of beneficiaries. The camps are being organized by the Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India in collaboration with the District Administration, WCD, MOs and BDOs of the concerned blocks.
The first camp at Dirang identified and registered 136 beneficiaries under RVY and 18 under the assistance to persons with disabilities for providing free aids and appliances.
The 3-week long Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and the Assistance to Persons with Disabilities in the district would culminate at district headquarters Bomdila on May 24.
