Itanagar, Jan 20: Sadbhaav Arunachal, a social organisation, on Saturday launched the Ram Jyoti vitaran abhiyan (distribution of lamps) at Papu Nallah, near here, on the eve of consecration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on January 22 next.
The organisation has decided to distribute around 10,800 diyas (lamps) to the denizens of the state capital by January 21 next.
Launching the mission, Sadbhaav Arunachal Chief Patron Kipa Babu handed over the diyas to several captains of the organisation to be distributed in various parts of the twin capital cities.
Speaking on the occasion, Babu, a former MLA recalled the incident in 1992 when he along with other kar sevaks went to Ayodhya where police lathi-charged them.
“I never imagined that Ram Temple will be constructed for which we struggled,” Babu said and urged the people to witness the historic consecration ceremony.
Stating that Ram temple is not for a particular religion of cult, the former lawmaker observed that it is for the entire country irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
“Ram is a god and a revered figure of the country. People can learn a lot from his life as he was a symbol of humanity,” Babu added.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP general secretary and Chairman of Sadbhaav Arunachal Niglar highlighted the history as to how Ram temple was constructed in the site earlier.
Giving a chronology of events, Niglar informed that King Kush, who was one of the son of lord Ram, constructed a temple in the site. Later, in 500 BC, King Vikramaditya constructed a big temple in the site in the name of Ram.
In 1528 Mughal emperor Babar demolished the temple and in 1885 legal battle started between Nirmo Akara and others Niglar said adding, in 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished while the Supreme Court in 2019 gave judgement in favour of Ram Mandir.
“Ram Mandir is not a religious site but a heritage site like the Taj Mahal.
The BJP leader and Chairman of the NGO added that the his NGO has decided to set up five big LED TVs in various parts of the state capital so that people could witness the consecration ceremony on January 22.
On January 22, the volunteers would distribute around six quintals of sweets to the denizens of the state capital to mark the occasion.
Kipa Mangal, General Secretary, Tarh Rari,Vice Chairman, Dodak Riba, Assistant General Secretary Sadbhaav Arunachal also spoke at the vitaran samaroh.
