ITANAGAR, Jan 20:  Congress leader  Rahul Gandhi, leading the Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' entered into state capital Itanagar from Assam on Saturday. Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and former CM Nabam Tuki  and other top congress leaders from the state welcomed Gandhi at the Gumto check gate in Papum Pare district, where a flag handover ceremony took place.
The exchange of flags occurred between Tuki and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Borah, in the presence of senior party leaders from both states.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Gandhi, adorned with traditional Nyishi headgear, proceeded to Doimukh accompanied by numerous party workers. In Doimukh, he addressed a public rally and later traveled to Naharlagun by bus to interact with street vendors.
He slammed the BJP led central government and its religious wing RSS for keeping mum on the Manipur issue and other issues related to the Northeast.  Today, RSS and BJP have captured Media, all institutions like Judiciary, election commission and bureaucracy all have been threatened under BJP regime, and so the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is the only way to raise public issue by reaching their locations, he added.
“Our effort is to listen, and raise your issues in Parliament; BJP’s agenda is to create differences between religion, languages but Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is to unite every citizen of India for a better India,” stated Gandhi.
Upon reaching Itanagar, Gandhi initiated a foot march from Nyokum Lapang to the Malo Tarin government higher secondary school ground for another public rally.
The extensive 6,713-km-long march, led by the Congress MP, began in Manipur on January 14 and will conclude on March 20 in Mumbai. Stringent security measures have been implemented for the Arunachal Pradesh leg of the yatra.
Papum Pare SP Taru Gusar assured adequate security arrangements along the designated route, from Gumto check gate to SDO ground at Doimukh. The areas where Gandhi is scheduled to address the public have been sanitized, and forces have been deployed and briefed thoroughly.
In Itanagar, security personnel were stationed at Mallo Tarin government higher secondary school ground and at Chimpu, where Gandhi will halt for the night.
