NAHARLAGUN, Mar 30: Mission Director (NHM) Dr Tapasya Raghav disappointed at increasing Infant Mortality Rate in Arunachal Pradesh urged the medical officers and staff nurse to address the morbidity and mortality of newborn at community level with utmost priority.
She was speaking at an 11-day training on Facility- Based Integrated Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illness for Medical officers and Staff Nurses which commenced on Thursday at the state training hall National Health Mission organized by the State Health Society.
She reiterated Medical officers & Nurse should discharge their duty sincerely while managing the newborn and children at community level and facility level and thus bridging the shortage of Pediatricians in remote areas. Meanwhile appreciating all the Medical staffers for their contribution in achieving 100% success in Measles & Rubella vaccination campaign, she urged them to put their same zeal and keenness in decreasing the abysmal Infant Mortality Rate.
She categorically said that no further training will be given on F-IMNCI unless Medical officers & Staff Nurse take the training sincerely and delivered the service to community level in most effective way.
Welcoming the participants, T Taku, Nodal officer NHM explained that Faciltiy Based Integrated Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illness (F-IMNCI) has been developed with an aim to address the skill gaps found in Health facilities. F-IMNCI aims to provide optimum skills and help build capacities of the Medical officers & Staff Nurses to address the child morbidity and mortality and managing newborn and children both at the community level as.
In another 8-day training for newly appointed Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) on Integrated of neonatal & Childhood illness, Director Family Welfare Dr K Lego addressing the inaugural explained that IMNCI is a systematic approach to children’s health which focuses on the whole physical development of a child including curative care and prevention of disease. Meanwhile he urged that Nurses must take care of newborn babies whether it was an institutional or home delivery to minimize IMR.
The resource persons for the training were Dr. Otem Yomso SMO FRU Ruksin, Dr. Gagam Dai GH Pasighat and Dr. T. Lollen for Medical officers & Nurse and Dr W. Shin and Dr K Darin for IMNCI Training.
