ITANAGAR, Nov 11:

A two day state level consultation on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, which was jointly organized by Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) and Prayas concluded on Saturday.

ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, lawyers, government officials from health department and others, social workers came from different districts of Arunachal Pradesh attended the programme in the state capital.On the first day, Advocate Sunil Mow, talked about the background of the consultation and why it is important to talk about legal issues around sexual and reproductive health and rights. Thereafter, Chhaya Pachauli, a senior project coordinator from Prayas dwelt on sexual rights and reproductive rights and how they are linked to each other and explained various violations of health rights of women.

Dr J Ado, DRCHO (District Reproductive and Child Health Officer) talked about the implementation of government schemes such as Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) and Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK). Chairperson, Women Commission of Arunachal Pradesh, Mitali Tingkhatra also spoke about the reproductive rights of women and violence against women.
