ITANAGAR, May 18:Director Family Welfare, K Legu while reviewing the intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight preparedness meeting today said that the maternal death related to pregnancy continues to have large impact on lives of mother and new born which is a matter of great concern.
He exhorted all the districts to put concerted efforts in achieving zero child death and emphasized on creating continuous awareness and promoting hand washing technique at schools to prevent childhood diarrhoea diseases.
Strongly advocating for breast feeding, Dr Legu underscored that mother first milk (colostrum) should never be wasted as it contain important antibodies which act as vaccine.
He also reviewed child death cases due to childhood diarrhoea and divulged that CDR is another important strategy to understand the geographical variation leading to death thereby initiating the state specific child health intervention
Dr Natung in his address said there should be no discrepancy in reporting and those Districts which is lagging behind in training their Medical Officer Staff nurse ANM and ASHA should speed it up.
Dr.Runi Tassung MO Maternal health called for maintaining accurate data of maternal death record and how it should be maintained and urged for timely submission to District MDR committee which will be shared for further course of action.
