ITANAGAR, Aug 10:In a significant development, the People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh (PPA) is no longer part of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). The announcement was made by State BJP president Tapir Gao, on behalf of Convenor, NEDA, Himanta Biswa Sarma during the state executive meeting held at Jullang today.

Gao further said that from now on the BJP will treat PPA at par with Congress ‘as an opponent political party in the State.’

Putting to rest rumours about threat to or instability in the current State Government, Gao asserted that it is not the principle and policy of the BJP to change government mid-term. 

‘Till today there have been no such instances and it is very unlikely that BJP will break this tradition,’ he said urging all present to rest assured and exhorted Chief Minister Pema Khandu to focus on developmental work  for the benefit of the people of the state without any trepidation.

On a similar note, he urged all the delegates to actively counter the baseless rumours being thrown about by the opposition parties and rumour mongers about instability of the Pema Khandu government.

Earlier, Gao, also advised the delegates to take State Executive Meeting seriously as it is the highest level meeting of the Party in the State. He stressed that this is the forum where important resolutions are adopted, which reflects the intention of the party. Therefore, it is very important to transmit the resolutions adopted in the State Executive Meeting right down to the grassroots level, added Gao.

The opening remark of the President was followed by moving of the political resolution by Minister, Urban Development & Town Planning, Nabam Rebia and seconded by Parliamentary Secretary, Education and Home, Pani Taram which was duly adopted by the house.  It was followed by adoption of Economic Resolution, which moved by Tatung Jamoh, Parliamentary Secretary, Agriculture and seconded by Kumsi Sidisow, Parliamentary Secretary, PHED.

In the second half of the session, three Ministers made presentation on the achievements of their respective Departments. The Ministers who made presentation where Wangki Lowang,  Minister, Agriculture, Kumar Waii, Minister, Home & RWD and Tamiyo Taga, Minister, Power, Handicrafts, Textile & Industry.

The Ministers were questioned as well as given suggestions by the delegates for improving the performance of their departments which were welcomed by them.

The presentation of Ministers were followed by report from Kisan Morcha, Yuwa Morcha, ST Morcha, Minoirty Morcha , Mahila Morcha and District Presidents of all the Districts.

The last speaker of the day, Chief Minister Pema Khandu remarked that there is a better understanding now of the ideology of the BJP among the legislators and other party cadres who joined BJP sometime back.

‘Everyone, including Chief Minister has to perform or perished. Every two months there is revision of performance of Chief Minister by the Prime Minister and accordingly everyone has to be accountable down the line,’ Khandu said.

 He shared that on average, he work 15 hours a day now because there is so much to be done. On the same vein he urged all Ministers and officers to work hard for the development of the State.

Khandu also spoke on the advantages of GST for a consumer State like Arunachal Pradesh. He shared that his government will implement the awareness programme and registration under GST very seriously across the State for benefit of the State.
