ITANAGAR, May 18:The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Friday raised concern over deteriorating law and order situation in the state and criticised the administration and the state government for failing to solve pending murder cases, some of which are high-profile.
Taking a dig at the Police department, it alleged that Police has not been able to solve a single murder case in the recent past and has been groping in the dark—be it the case of Late Migrik Lomi, Toko Yame, Ojing Taying, Ngurang Pinch and the Tawang firing incident.
“The failure by the police department to solve all these cases indicates that either the police department is incompetent or being pressurised by few influential people,” it added.
Stating that intentionally denying justice to murder victims is not lesser than an act of murder itself, the PPA accused the state government for failing to contain the increasing crime graph and questioned the incompetency of police department in solving pending cases.
It also raised concern over the frequent transfers of investigating officers, the unwillingness and reluctance of the state government to hand over cases to CBI as sought by victim families.
“The law and order situation in our state is becoming worse with each passing day,” it pointed out and called for handing over unsolved murder cases to the central bureau of investigation (CBI) to give immediate justice to the aggrieved families.
