ITANAGAR, Jul 2:Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein today observed that despite surplus educational institutions as compared to yesteryears, the low pass percentage in CBSE examinations is a matter of great concern.

He was speaking while inaugurating the new school building of the Calvary English School in presence of Minister of Education, Honchun Ngandam at Moinhappa here today. The new school building was constructed with the funding of the State Govt with the assurance given by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu while attending the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the School on October 21 last year.

   Addressing the gathering in the Parents Meet, Mein lauded the Nyishi Baptist Church Council of Arunachal Pradesh for running schools with nominal fees for the students belonging to poor background. He also lauded the contribution made by the Rama Krishna Mission, Vivekananda Mission and Christian Missionaries in the field of Education and Health sectors in the State.

He said that the government will extend all possible help to such charitable societies and organizations irrespective of their religious background citing that ‘our government is a secular one and we believe that all must grow equally and parallel.’               

Urging every educated person to ponder about it and analyze the cause of the poor performance of the CBSE results, he said mass awareness is essential to improve the education system.

He also informed that the analysis regarding the poor performance of the Govt Schools in CBSE examination this year has been sought from the Deputy Commissioners by the Chief Minister to find out the reasons behind it and for a way forward solution.               

Citing education as the backbone of society and children as the future, he called upon the teachers not to take the teaching profession casually.

Referring to earlier days when there was 20:80 ratio in recruitment rules and schools were manned by outsiders, education system was comparatively better. But today despite our own local teachers manning majority of the school since the introduction of 80:20 ratio in the recruitment rules and schools established in every nook & corner of the villages but it is a matter of grave concern that our results are deteriorating, he said and questioned, “If we do not take care of our future generations, then who will come and take care for us?”             

 Replying to the memorandum submitted by the Principal of the School, he said to look into their demand of Multipurpose Hall for the School.

 Minister of Education, Honchun  Ngandam said that the department’s door is open for all and the Govt will support every organizations that worked towards education of children. He said that the Govt will release the grant-in-aid to the Arunachal Baptist Church Council as announced by the Chief Minister last year once MoU is signed with ABCC as done with the Ramakrishna and Vivekananda Missions.

               He said that our students are not less talented but what is lacking is hard work and discipline.

Speaking on the much debated Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 1978 or the Anti-Conversion Law, he said that the Act was never activated nor brought into force in the State and it will be discussed meticulously.     

Replying to the memorandum for 50 bedded girls hostel, Ngandam assured to look into the demand next financial year.

Lingto Gollo, Principal CES, Moinhappa while briefing about the annual report of the school informed that the School was established in the year 1992 and is one of the schools run by the Nyishi Baptist Church Council with contributions from the well wishers without any Govt aid until recently by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu led Govt.
