ITANAGAR, Dec 26:Police operation resulted in rescue of one Arnav Phukon, son of Dilip Phukon, a businessman of Jagun, Assam on December 25 last near BP 172 on Longvi-Jotin Juda Road.

Arnab was kidnapped by ULFA on December 15 last from Old Khamdu village under Jairampur PS jurisdiction.

A Police Team consisting of Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Miao Tasi Darang, SI Rawat, SI Umeshan, SI Langching, SI Kalita and Jawans were in continuous search operation in various places for last 10 days. The police with the help of local inputs led to recovery of the victim. Victim was left abandoned in jungle. Militants fled the scene when they sense the arrival of police forces.

 A case vide Jairampur PS no. 14/ 2017 U/S 120(B)/ 365/34 IPC R/W Sec 27 Arms Act and Sec 10/13 UA (P) Act has already been registered. The rescue operation was supervised by Superintendent of Police, Changlang J K Lego.
