ITANAGAR, Feb 9: Capital Police arrested two individuals including a government official and seized incriminating evidence in the fake job racket involving the Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun while search for a third individual is going on.
The police have arrested one Sangeeta Bansal, an upper division clerk (UDC) of the directorate of health services, and Jogen Saikia, a native of Assam. The two have been accused of being involved in issuing fake job appointment letters to people for the posts of lower and upper divisional clerks and multi tasking staff on a temporary basis in lieu of large sums of money.
Speaking to reporters,Superintendent of Police, ICR- Jimmy Chiram informed that the matter came to light after police received an FIR on January 20, from the Director of Medical Education regarding fake appointment letters issued under its seal and with forged signatures of officials.
Police swung into action and a special investigation team was formed to investigate the case. SIT included SDPO Naharlagun D Gumja, Anurag Dwidedi IPS(P), Insp K Yangfo, Insp T Tasso, SI SS Jha, SI RK Jha, CT Sandip and L/CT Sumnyan. After probe, SIT team arrested two people in connection with the fake job racket on Tuesday last, informed the SP.
The investigation that followed revealed the names of three persons – Taw Peri, Jogen Saikia and Sangeeta Bansal who were promising jobs in lieu of money. The police carried out a search at Bansal’s house where several incriminating evidences like money agreements, lists of candidates, two rubber seals, etc., used for issuing the fake appointment letters were recovered,” the SP said. As Bansal had already fled to Delhi, a team from Naharlagun police station reached the national capital to arrest her, but she had already left for Patna by then.

Acting quickly, the team flew to Patna and intercepted the train and arrested Sangeeta from Hajipur Station, Patna, Bihar. Another accused, Jogen Saikia, was arrested from Gophur, Assam and search for the third accused, Taw Peri, is still on, the SP said.
The SP said initial investigation has revealed that there were transactions ranging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 40 lakh between the job aspirants, middle man and main accused Sangeeta Bansal.
 Documents of 86 persons with application forms filled by applicants applying for the post of UDC/LDC/MTS Staff etc, has been found. Dozens of copies and original agreement on Non-Judicial Stamp Paper indicating that Sangeeta Bansal has received payments ranging from 2,50,000 to 84,00,000  from various persons and the reason for receipt of payment is written in the agreement as that the money has been given for some urgent work have also been recovered.
