ITANAGAR, Jan 5: The Itanagar Capital Police arrested three people involved in the theft of DG batteries from various locations of  North Lakhimpur district, Assam. Police recovered 13 DG batteries including a vehicle. The accused are now in Police custody for 6 days.
Police informed that three accused, Raju Biswas, Man Bahadur Pradhan and Abbash Ali were nabbed following a series of raids at various suspected locations at Khelmati, Bangalmara and Harmoti of North Lakhimpur District, Assam.
Earlier, police received a series of complaints of DG batteries being stolen from various locations of Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). The case was initially reported in Itanagar Police Station and Chimpu PS. According to the complaint, the DG batteries of BSNL General Manager Office, Office of Assistant Director Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, TNZ Movie centre, Heema Hospital, BJP office, Vivek Vihar and Chandra Nagar were stolen. 
Accordingly, 6 FIRs were registered at Itanagar PS and one at Chimpu PS.
Acting upon the complaints, Capital SP, Rohit Rajbir Singh constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Assistant SP, Angad Mehta. The SIT team was led by SDPO, Kengo Dirchi.
Subsequently, the team initially rounded up all habitual burglars and collected entire technical evidence. On January 1, information was received from sources that some persons from Assam used an Alto Car, registration bearing no. AR01C/8438 in executing the offence.
“Subsequently, the team with assistance of Assam police made raids at various suspected locations of the alleged accused at Khelmati, Bangalmara and Harmoti, North Lakhimpur District, Assam. After two-days of tremendous effort, the accused were apprehended along with the vehicle and 13 DG batteries from various locations,” the official informed.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they have been involved in multiple theft cases in the ICR. Further, it has also been ascertained that they were directly involved in 6 other cases in Itanagar Police Station and one case in Chimpu PS.
In the meantime, the police requested the complainants to collect the recovered batteries from Itanagar PS.
