 TEZU, Jul 23:  Following the directives of Commissioner, Women and Child Department, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) organized an awareness programme on POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act today at Government Secondary School, Telluliang.

Hundreds of students including faculty members participated in the day-long awareness campaign.

Addressing the gathering, Member, DCPU, Cholimso Tadu briefed the students on various do’s and don’ts under POCSO Act and also good and bad touch. He also elaborated on various laws and rights available under Juvenile Justice Act for the minors.

Speaking on the occasion, Headmaster GSS, Telluliang,  Ankhiangso Kri appreciated the DCPU for sharing important information on POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act amongst the students. ‘Such information will help the students to take precautionary measures to avoid any toward incidents,’ he added.

TAWANG:

An awareness programme on POCSO Act 2012 and Juvenile Justice ( care and protection of children)Act 2015 was conducted in the schools of Tawang district today. The programme organized by the District Child Protection Unit, (through 3 CDPOs of the district) Tawang with support from the District Legal Service Authority, Tawang saw participation from more than 500 students including teaching staff under Tawang project, 300 under Jang project and 400 under Lumla covering 18 government schools.

During the programme, various provisions under both Acts were discussed. The CDPOs sensitized the children about the role of the DCPU and its 3 support services including Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board & Special Juvenile Police Unit. Representatives from DLSA Tawang also highlighted on various legal safeguards, counselling facilities etc under the Acts. 

The sensitization programme will continue till the end of July covering all the schools both government and private, of the district.
