PASIGHAT, Mar 12: The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) pension scheme for unorganized workers (UW) enrollment drive was held here on Saturday morning in presence of the local MLA Kaling Moyong, DC Tayi Taggu, Labour Officer Tore Ete, PMC Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang and her deputy, host political leaders, officers and hundreds of unorganized workers.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Moyong stated that the scheme would assure a monthly pension of Rs 3000/- for the enrolled unorganized sector workers in their old age. He appealed to the informal sector workers to enroll as beneficiaries in the nearby Common Service Centre (CCC). Assuring that there would not be any hassles with the enrollment process, Moyong told the gathering that only a form needs to be filled with Aadhar number and bank details. A subscriber’s contributions to the PM-SYM shall be made through auto-debit facility from his/ her savings bank account per month once the enrollment process is completed, he further added.Taking privilege, he appealed to citizens to help and enroll in PM-SYM, those working in the unorganized sector, whether it is in one's house or in the neighborhood. Such actions by the affluent class would greatly benefit the poor, said Moyong.
LO Ete informed that the person should be between 18 and 40 years, having monthly income of Rs 15,000 or less would be entitled to enroll his/her name. Subscriber under the PM-SYM would receive a minimum assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years and after death, the spouse of the beneficiary would be entitled to receive 50 percent of the pension received by the beneficiary as family pension. Such sensitization programs were also organized at Mebo and Ruksin subdivisions in addition to Pasighat and would continue up to March13 next.
