ITANAGAR, Nov 25: In a devastating fire incident the lone petrol agency of Longding district has been reduced to ashes Friday evening. No casualties have been reported but due to absence of fire brigade the outlet couldn’t be saved.
Fire incidents are not new in the remote and hilly Longding district, in past many people has lost their lives and properties in fire mishaps. The memory of the devastating Wakka village fire last December which wiped out the entire village and that took the life of a woman is still fresh in people’s mind.
‘We appeal the state government to immediately provide required number of fire tenders at Longding on urgent basis, as we have often observed that due to absence of fire tenders many have lost their lives including property,’ stated President Longding District Students Union( LDSU) Manlem Wangsu.
LDSU further added that the proposal for proper ‘Fire Brigade’ is in the pipeline but instead of waiting for the completion of the project, the government should immediately provide required fire tender vehicle under Longding Police station to assist during emergencies.
