ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC), on Tuesday, said that the state public service commission should immediately revoke the forced retirement of Taket Jerang, the former Deputy Controller of Examination cum Deputy Secretary, APPSC.
Besides the revocation of the forced termination of the officer, the PAJSC also requested the commission to take cognizance of the tainted examinations, ensure justice to Mudang Yabyang, the establishment of redressal cell, and incorporate of suggestions in the new standard operating procedures (SOP).
Tadak Nalo, the Vice Chairman of the PAJSC, addressing the media at the press club here today, said that the state government, though succeeded to form the commission, the major role remains within the power of the new chairman and its members to avoid any future scams.
Likewise, the appeal placed by the PAJSC can only be addressed by the chairman of the commission. The committee don’t doubt the integrity of any new members of the commission and hopes that the requests, recommendations, and suggestions are being considered as top priority for the overall welfare of the state.
Hence, he said that the appeal to revoke the forced retirement of Taket Jerang, the prime accused in the APPSC cash-for-job scam can only be addressed by the commission. Moreover, forced retirement is only a form of reward instead of punishment.
“Therefore, we demand the commission to constitute an inquiry committee within a week to initiate necessary departmental proceedings, and accordingly work on the termination of Taket Jerang,” he added.
The PAJSC also appealed to the commission to constitute an expert committee within a week and to document a report on the official cognizance taken by the commission on the tainted examinations, wherever paper leakage took place within 3 months.
Nalo said that the commission is in dire need of a strong and structural SOP.  Without it, the past would repeat, and yet again the chain of corruption and malpractices will be witnessed in the commission. And to ensure no such future scams in the commission, the recommendations and suggestions with respect to the SOP should be incorporated.
Stressing upon the need for a redressal cell in the commission, Nalo said that the reason behind the multiplying legal battles in every examination is only due to the non-redressal of issues timely. Therefore, a dedicated redressal cell in the commission should be established.
“Moreover, the state government has also assured to apprise the matter to the commission for a dedicated redressal cell to address issues related to examinations in every stage,” he added.
The PAJSC further demanded justice for Mudang Yabyang, a person with disabilities (PWD) candidate, who has been the victim of the blunders of the previous commission. Despite being the only candidate for the post of lecturer in electrical engineering, reserved for PWD candidates, she was denied.
“Now, despite qualifying with marks, added with relaxation under PWD category, the rightful candidate was denied the post. Therefore, the commission is requested to ensure justice for the deprived,” he said. After the passage of almost 2 years of revolution in the context to APPSC cash-for-job scam, PAJSC members recently visited the new chairman of the commission and discussed in detail on the reformation of the SOP.
He said that the PAJSC has raised the issue with conviction and is yet determined and content to ensure the demands of the committee are being accepted by the commission.
