ITANAGAR, Feb 18: As a mark of protest against the state government’s failure to resolve Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) observed February 18 as Black Day at Gandhi Park. Members also resorted to symbolic cutting of cakes against the 60 MLAs and 3 MPs to mark its protest against the government's inaction regarding the paper leakage of the APPSCCE exam, despite assurances made by the government on the same day in 2023 to address their demands.
Speaking to the media, Vice Chairman PAJSC Tadak Nalo, stated that, in response to the government's apathy towards the 13-point demands of the PAJSC, the committee has also declared the initiation of the "Pustak Jalao Aandolan" (Burn Books Movement). This drastic measure highlights the frustration and desperation of the students whose dreams, futures, and hard work have been compromised due to the corrupt system, which values money over integrity, he added.
Through the Pustak Jalao Movement, PAJSC aims to send a resounding message to the central government, declaring their intolerance towards injustice and demanding immediate action to address the systemic corruption plaguing the education system.
Nalo further slammed the state government for attempting to suppress the issue and called upon the Union Minister and Members of Parliament to fulfill their duty of representing the people's voices rather than merely celebrating festivals.
Meanwhile, PAJSC has urged citizens across the state to observe February 18 as a black day and boycott the Statehood Day celebration.
