ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) has declared February 18 as Black Day and resolved to boycott the Statehood Day protesting the state government's failure to fulfill promises in resolving the APPSC Cash for Job scam, despite a year passing.
Addressing the media, Vice Chairman of PAJSC, Tadak Nalo, criticized the state government for its incompetence in resolving the APPSC fiasco, accusing it of shattering the dreams and hopes of thousands of aspirants. "It’s been a year since February 18, 2023, when the state-wide protests prompted assurances from Chief Minister Pema Khandu himself to address all 13 points demanded by the PAJSC. However, to date, no substantial progress has been made," Nalo stated.
Appealing to all citizens of the state to boycott Statehood Day events by refraining from attendance or wearing black badges and attire, Nalo also revealed that PAJSC will organize a 'Pustak Jalao' event to express dissatisfaction with the government's assurances regarding the APPSC fiasco.
Reiterating their 13-point demand, Nalo pointed out that no one above the rank of Taket Jerang has been arrested so far. Moreover, Jerang, despite being released on bail, continues to enjoy all facilities after being forcefully retired instead of facing termination, Nalo added. He also mentioned that neither the Whistle Blower Act was tabled in the Assembly nor did whistle-blower Gyamar Padang receive any recognition from the government.
Nalo further stated that despite assurances not to file cases against anyone for the public bandh held in February last year, the government has lodged cases against PAJSC members in various police stations.
He also emphasized that the state government has completely failed to resolve the issue, even as the three representatives in Delhi, Members of Parliament Tapir Gao(LS), Nabam Rebia(RS) and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju remained silent on the APPSC scam.
