TEZU, Jan 15:More than 25236 pilgrims and tourists visited the Parshuram Kund during Makar Sankranti on Sunday. Pilgrims from all over the country and abroad visits Parshuram Kund every year during Makar Sankranti for holy dip in the Kund for its religious and spiritual significance.

Many of the tourists comprised of nearby areas including other districts of the State and neighbouring Assam. Locals also came to witness the festivity in the Kund area.

EAC Wakro cum Mela Officer, D Riba informed that entry of 1211 vehicles were registered at Wakro Check Gate.

Lohit District Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki is leaving no stone unturned for successful conduct of the Mela. He is personally supervising all the arrangements and activities and is camping at the premises of the Kund.

Adequate security arrangements have provided with presence of CRPF and IRBn Jawans and Civil Police. Volunteers from Arunachal Vikash Parishad, Arun Jyoti, Secondary School Wakro are present for further security arrangements and assistance.

DIO, NIC Tezu informed that Live event of Parshuram Kund Mela is being webcasted at www.lohittourism.in.

The number of pilgrims and tourists is expected to be higher in number as the figures provided is from Wakro sub-division. The numbers of tourists and pilgrims from Tezu-Tohanggam route has not been reported so far.
