ITANAGAR, Aug 28:The National Students Union of India state unit on Monday demanded punishment against Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and demanded his resignation on moral grounds for allegedly cutting a cake decorated with an image of the national tricolour during Sankap se Siddhi Naya Bharat manthan Tiranga Yatra on August 24 last.

Strongly condemning Rijiju for disrespecting the national flag, the union termed it as unconstitutional and serious violation of National Flag Code of India  and under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act,1971(amendment Act,2005).

The union is also demanding necessary action against those leaders who were also present.
