ITANAGAR, Jun 5:The National People’s Party (NPP) state unit on Tuesday officially launched a mass awareness campaign across the state themed—Mission Clean Vote with the catchphrase say no to money culture in any form of elections.

In this connection, the party will be conducting series of public education programmes such as seminars, rallies including circulating short movies in social networking sites etc, in three phases to educate voters.

Announcing this in a press conference at press club this afternoon, NPP, Youth President, Bage Kamsi who is leading the campaign, stated that the motive behind is to create a sense of awareness among the public especially youths to combat the prevailing money culture in any form of elections and then educate them about its adverse effect on the socio economic conditions and how to reduce it.

Asserting that money culture in elections is deep rooted in the political scene of the state, he underscored that it’s time to end this and pointed at the deteriorating development and political sphere which has widened the chasm between the rich and poor today.

Stating that vote is not a commodity for sale as is the case here in state, Kamsi sought support from all citizens in safeguarding democracy while pledging to refuse to participate in bribery during elections to pave way for a government that is more responsive to its citizens.

 He appealed people to elect deserving candidates to public office who owe their allegiance to voters rather than to private interests.

Divulging about the campaign, Kamsi disclosed that it is aimed at educating especially youths and religious and educational institutions etc where most of its programs will be held.
