RONO HILLS, Jan 30: The three-day long ‘’North-East Meet of Astronomers (NEMA)-VII’’ concluded at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on Saturday.
The seventh edition NEMA was organized by Department of Physics, RGU in association with Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune from January 27-29 in online mode.
At the inaugural function, RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha in his speech highlighted the importance of Astronomy and Astrophysics and urged to organize similar meet to enhance the research activities of young researchers of North East states.
IUCAA Director Prof. Somak Raychaudhury in his address talked about the discoveries of the marveling secrets of the universe because of advanced facilities coming up nowadays. Pro VC-Prof. Amitav Mitra, Registrar-Dr. Nabam Tadar Rikam, Dean of Basic Sciences-Prof. Sanjeev Kumar and Head of Physics Department Prof. Pradeep Kumar Kalita also spoke on similar themes about the earlier and recent developments in the fields of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
More than 30 speakers including senior professors, teachers, post-doctoral and research scholars delivered presentations on their current research works and had fruitful discussions and interactions with all 76 online participants from various Northeast states’ colleges, universities and institutes.
