ITANAGAR, May 9:In the wake of the resignation by the Director, National Institute of Technology, Yupia, a concerned All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union today appealed the state government to take up the matter in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

Claiming that such negative development is depicting a bad picture, the union stated that the frequent resignation and unstable administration in the premier institute is sending a wrong picture as well as hampering the academic career of the students.

A delegation led by President Hawa Bagang and General Secretary Tobom Dai called upon the office of Director of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Yupia recently to enquire about the authenticity of the resignation of the regular Director Dr. Rajiv Kumar Garg.

‘The union strongly condemns such incident caused by individuals and it is the need of the hour for the government to take up the matter for creating a conducive environment for students and the staffers. The AAPSU appeals for thorough enquiry in the matter and security personnel be provided to staffers,’ said Bagang.

The reason for resignation and disturbance in the administration to certain extent has been unearthed which suggest life threatening calls made to the Director such cowardice incident for the interest of few individuals are curtailing the general good, Bagang further added.

The Director who was recently posted in the month of October to the institute had tender his resignation citing personal reasons. The AAPSU opined that when there is no pressure or other outside interventions, the resignation of the Director is matter of introspection and the truth has to be known to the people. The AAPSU has learnt through internal sources of life threat given to the Director and there are corruption and scams in the past.

The AAPSU learning about mismanagement and irregularities of the institute had demanded for a full fledged Director at the NIT and NERIST in 2017. The union on different occasions had called upon the State government and Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar for posting of regular Directors. It had also taken to the streets demanding for the same.
