MALIGAON, Sep 18:In an effort to create awareness on sanitation and cleanliness in railway premises among passengers and station staffers, the North East Frontier Railway organized an intensive cleanliness drive across its five key stations at Katihar, Alipurduar ,Rangia, Lumding & Tinsukia involving railway officials and sanitation staffers.

The initiative was a part of the countrywide “Swachhta Hi Sewa” being observed by Indian Railways in its entire network to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, which will conclude on October 2 next.

The drive was kick started by General Manager, NF Railway, Chahatey Ram on Sunday last, wherein he administrated Swacchta pledge “Shramdaan" at Kamakhya Railway station, which was attended by officers, employees from NF Railway Headquarters.

Appreciating the contribution of Sanitation Staffers, Chahatey Ram pointed out that maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of such a huge station is big challenge and lauded the sanitation staffers.

 He emphasized that swacchta campaign should become a social movement and awareness about cleanliness and sanitation must reach every station to make hygiene a habit among the commuters.

Later the General Manager also awarded cash prize to one Ramen Das, Safai Karmachari for displaying exemplary devotion to duty.
