ITANAGAR, Jan 18:Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, chaired an informational session on new traffic management plan at Banquet hall here today.

Welcoming the Itanagar Traffic Wardens under the umbrella of the District Administration, the DC hoped that being part of the administration they would perform their duties with due diligence and seriousness. He said that the traffic wardens’ role would not be limited to just traffic management but would also be empowered to issue challans to people throwing garbage on the roads.

OC Traffic, G Ete spoke on the various traffic rules and provisions of Motor Vehicle Act while, Extra Assistant Commissioner Toko Babu, elaborated on the new traffic management plan. A new attendance system was also presented on the occasion for the traffic wardens, which would be based on GPS based reporting through mobile phones and RFID based wrist bands

The Superintendent of Police, S. Khalsi speaking on the occasion hoped for better traffic management by the traffic wardens after their induction into District Administration and spoke on being firm and polite while dealing with the public.

The new traffic management plan includes specified locations for U-turns, right turns, parking and one way streets.

U-turns will be allowed at Zero Point-P-Sector Road, Gompa Mandir Road, near Kingcup school, near Punjabi Dhaba, Assembly Tri-Junction, near Gate No. 2 of R K Mission hospital and Vivek Vihar Trijunction.

Right Turns will be allowed at Bank Tinali Trijunction, Civil Secretariat, Old Sumo Counter near Ganga Market and Hanuman Mandi Ganga Market.

One-way traffic would be allowed in BSNL-Gandhi Market- Police Station road, NH415-Higher Secondary School- Assembly Road, Division IV-Green Mount School-F-Sector-NH415 Road, RK Mission-Division IV road.

Further No parking zones are Opposite RK Mission Gate-2 near U-Turn point, NH415 opposite to Clock Tower Ganga, and Bank Tinali Traffic point to Hotel Ane.

One Lane parking is allowed in Sector Road from NH415-BSNL-Gandhi Market-Police Station Road-NH415, internal road at Ganga Market.

Further, all Heavy Vehicles except School buses, coming from Naharlagun should take route through Jully-Chimpu- Itanagar. No buses would be allowed to park near NH415 opposite clock tower, 10 minutes stoppage is allowed to the buses.  All the APST buses should enter in to the APSTS Station though Gate 1 and exit from Gate 2 near Bluepine Hotel.

Heavy vehicles are barred from entering capital complex during peak hours and only permitted from 9PM to 7AM.

Three towing vehicles will be stationed at Hanuman Mandi, LMV Parking Zone and Police Station Naharlagun.

The DC urged the public to follow the new traffic guidelines and obey traffic rule to ease congestion in the capital roads.
