ITANAGAR, Aug 17: Northeast Students Organisation (NESO) in collaboration with All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) staged a sit-in protest at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar over its charter of demands.
Both the students bodies are demanding an Inner Line Permit for the entire Northeastern region, updated National Register of Citizens, 1951, Repeal of the Armed Force Special Powers Act 1958, Repeal of the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) from Northeastern states, implementation of the Assam Accord , resolving the inter-state boundary as well as international border issues including solution of the Chakma & Hajong refugee issue.
Pritam Waii Sonam, Coordinator, NESO informed that the protest is being held in entire north-eastern states and stated that  it's for the welfare of the tribal indigenous people of Northeast Indian states. "Tripura is swamped with immigrants and the local indigenous tribals have become minorities in their own state. Migrants have taken control over politics and in every field; therefore to save indigenous people and their rights we are demanding Inner Line Permit in every state of Northeast including Assam.

If Assam is saved then the other NE states will be saved from the influx of Bangladeshi refugees and outside dominance," he added.

Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary of AAPSU Ritum Tali, stated that the boundary dispute which occurs frequently between the citizens of Arunachal & Assam should be solved immediately. "The Chief Ministers of both the states are settling the issue out of court and the recent Namsai Declaration where disputes have been reduced to a few villages is a good step," he added.
Tali further added that All Assam Students Union & All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union met at Guwahati recently where they resolved to work together in coordination to solve the dispute amicably by sitting with respective interstate boundary dispute committees and leaders of both states.
Among others, President-AAPSU Tana Doji Tara, Vice President Protocol Nabam Gandhi, the Union's former general secretary Tobom Dai, Spokesperson-AAPSU Toko Happy and others along with students of various schools attended the protest.
