ITANAGAR, Nov 28:The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) while reiterating its pending demands to the state government on Tuesday has reacted sharply to a statement made by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu against opposition Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA ) MLA, Takam Pario during the last Assembly session.

In a press conference held at press club today, NES, president, Bengia Tolum while quoting the CM’s statement said ‘it was wrong to equate a respectable opponent to a “dog”,  under any circumstance.’

‘The humiliating remarks were made by the CM after Pario raised a question on GST related issues during the Assembly session that was held on 14 October last,’  disclosed Tolum.  How can a CM stoop to such a low level while attacking opponents, he questioned.

Expressing shock over the incident, Tolum alleged that it was unbecoming of the CM and the statement has created uproar and has hurt the sentiments of entire Nyishi community.

Further talking on few pending issues, Tolum while reiterating for immediate construction of Green Field Airport alleged that despite technical clearance and feasibility report, the government is intentionally delaying the project.

Expressing shock over the report that the Centre is deserting the TAH project from Potin to Pangin, Tolum urged the government if need be to post an IAS officer as DC to tackle the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) issue in Lower Subansiri district such as land compensation, assessment etc.

He however requested the Government to ensure fair compensation to the affected people and that no genuine claimant should be deprived of their rights.

Over the Centre’s decision to set up three Sainik schools in Pasighat, Tawang and TLC area, Tolum while welcoming the decision has opined that it would be great if one is also established in the state capital.

Here Tolum also alleged CM and Deputy CM along with State BJP chief, Tapir Gao for diverting the Sainik School project to their respective areas without giving first priority to the state capital.

Meanwhile referring to a meeting held with the CM on October 20 last, where in issues related to sanctioning of additional fund for construction of Nyishi Heritage Village at Hoj, fund for construction of Itanagar-Golloso-Seijosa, Tali road and bridge over Kurung River etc were discussed. Tolum said except creation of Kamle District, all the above demands are yet to be fulfilled despite assurance by the government.
