POMA, Jan 22: Minister for Environment & Forest, Mama Natung on Saturday called upon the PRI leaders, youths, NGOs, including the public to join hands with the government in protecting the environment, natural resources and flora and fauna.
Addressing the gathering at Airgun Surrender Abhiyan cum Environmental awareness campaign being organized at Poma, the Minister appreciated the villagers for surrendering airguns (7), SBBL, chain saw machine, fishing nets and equipments.
"We have made a humble beginning but now this Abhiyan is appreciated by the people from across the country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi who mentioned about the mission in his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio talk," Natung said. He also informed that, till date more than 1600 people have surrendered their air guns including .22, DBBL etc.
Referring to the memorandum submitted by the Youth Welfare Society, Natung assured to provide a scheme for eco-park for the children to rev up tourism in the area, fund for plantation, two watchtowers, track for patrolling in the sanctuary and others. MLA Thirizino-Buragoan and Advisor to Minister for Environment & Forest, Kumsi Sidisow said that since the inception of the ASA from Lumdung in East Kameng, the message has gone worldwide and the credit goes to all including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Mama Natung. “Our state is very beautiful with huge natural resources and it can be preserved only if each and every citizen of the state join hands."
Among others, lieutenant colonel TC Tayum, PCCF RK Singh, DCF Harshavardhan also spoke on the occasion.
