ROING, Apr 28:

The 2-day National Shramdaan Conference 2018 on Sustainable Eco Development: Community Innovators and Entrepreneurs, Mission Roing for New India 2022 began here today at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley. The Shramdaan Conference is being organised by Sakaar Sewa Samity of Varanasi and Amyaa NGO of Roing.

The conference aims to empower community innovators, local entrepreneurs and problem facers by providing them with technological and entrepreneurship skills and mentorship by conscious individuals from diverse professional expertise across the nation, nurturing them into problem solvers.

Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom(IAS), during the inaugural programme, appreciated all who had come to attend the Shramdaan Conference as it was for a good cause. She advised the youth to take the opportunity to interact with people who are actually doing work at grassroot level and get inspired and take it as an impetus to work for the common good of the community.

The DC stated that in this world of fast paced development it was necessary for us to adopt sustainable practices and use the available resources properly. She advised all to incorporate low cost sustainable technology in everyday life. She also advised the innovators and budding entrepreneurs that the technology they created should not only be marketable but also should not be detrimental to the environment.

Temsutula Imsong of Sakaar Sewa Samiti, who started the Shramdaan activity with her team of young volunteers at Varanasi , gave a brief overview of the Shramdaan Conference and its origin. She said that Shramdaan was already being done by many by donating time and effort for a good cause, so it was decided to bring all the groups together to share their experiences and ideas and so started the Shramdaan conference. Nearly 70 Teams from all over India came together.

She advised that we should not think of Shramdaan only during the conference but should imbibe the values of cleanliness and Shramdaan in our daily lives and also motivate others to do voluntary work. Swachh Bharat can be successful only with behaviour and attitude change in the people towards cleanliness, she added.

Jadhav Payeng, the forest man of India, spoke on his inspiration and the influences in his work to reforest a barren sandbar of the Brahmaputra. He said do not ask what the state gives you but work for the development of your place. He advised people to start planting trees and contribute in a small way to stop climate change.

SP S K Sain, Dr. Rajiko Dele, Paul Chawang and others spoke on the occassion. Paul Chawang of Amyaa NGO gave a brief overview of the National Shramdaan Conference 2018 and briefed about the activities of Amyaa NGO and IClean Roing.
