ITANAGAR, Jan 12:The 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated as National Youth Day with enthusiasm and fanfare by various educational institutions, social organizations etc all over the state on Friday.

As part of the celebration, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized Blood donation camp and distributed fruits to patients at RKM Hospital Itanagar. 

State BJP President Tapir Gao, Advisor to CM and MLA Bomdila Japu Deru, State Vice President Tame Phassang, President BJYM Taring Teri, National BJP Youth leader Doni Nich, RKMH Secretary Swami Vishweshnanda among others also participated in the programme.

Speaking to the media, President state unit of BJP, Tapir Gao said that similar programmes are being held all over the country. 

At AALO:

Thousands of people compromising monks, alumni, teachers, students and band party held a colourful procession carrying posters, banners and shouting slogans to mark the “National Youth Day".

Organized under the aegis of Rama Krishna Mission School, Aalo, the procession is also a run up to the Golden Jubilee celebration of the school that will be celebrated in the month of February next.

 The procession which started from the residence of Boken Ete, the founder of the school was flagged by Superintendent of Police Irak Bagra, which passed through Nehru Chowk, Aalo Market, Army campus, Bogdo, medical colony and concluded at cooperative office.

Swamiji’s message and his clarion calls to the nation, beats of the drums, chanting of devotional and spiritual songs echoed all over the streets during the procession.

AT NAHARLAGUN:

Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society in association with NSS Unit of Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Doimukh organized various activities to commemorate the National Youth Day.

Dr. Riken Rina, Project Director APSACS, in his key note address highlighted the contribution made by Swami Vivekananda in nation building and shaping the youth for the nation.

While emphasizing the role of youth in the future of a nation, Dr. Rina also stressed on the need to remain alert from various diseases specially HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse which affect the young age group.

The Principal of Government Hr. Secondary School, Doimukh, N. Riba advised the students to equip themselves with knowledge to prevent HIV/AIDS.

Dy. Director (IEC) APSACS Tashor Pali asked the young people to concentrate on their career as it’s the right time to shape their future.

A Quiz Contest related to General Health, HIV, Drug Abuse and General Knowledge was conducted for the students.

 

At TEZU:

Paying homage to one of the world's greatest spiritual leaders, the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was observed here at the premises of VKV School Tezu .

AT NAMSAI:

Vivekananda Kendra Vidhyalaya (VKV)  Alumni Association, Namsai district organized  Mini Marathon for youths at Namsai today.

Hundreds of girls & boys participated in the marathon that started from Namsai and ended at Sengsap Village.

Speaking on the occasion Vice President Nang Timita Maungyak Namchoom briefed the gathering about National Youth Day and on the contribution of Swami Vivekananda to society.

Earlier, members also organized cleanliness drive at Namsai Community Health Center and distributed fruits to the patients
