Narrow escape for official in road accident which claims 3 lives

ITANAGAR, Jan 30:

Three people were killed in a fatal accident on the Harmuti and Laluk, Assam highway stretch some 4km from Banderdawa this morning at around 9am. Fortunately, EAC cum Magistrate, Seppa, Atin Padung who was travelling in his official vehicle including his driver escaped unhurt.

All the three deceased were occupants of the Hyundai Eon car and succumbed to their injuries on the spot but fortunately Padung along with his driver, F Natung escaped unhurt with minor injuries, according to Laluk Police Station source.

Family sources of the EAC informed late evening that the Hyundai car which was coming from the opposite side collided with a motorbike which caused it to go out of control and subsequently rammed into the path of Padung’s vehicle which was moving in its right track.

Padung was reportedly heading to Longding in his official Mahindra Bolero when the incident took place.

The deceased were identified as Kumud Pasoni (30), Md. Hajrat Ali (50) and Faruque Ahmed (30) all from Laluk Police Station jurisdiction.

When contacted, Laluk Police Station Officer in-Charge Ajit Kumar Bhuyan stated that till now they are investigating the cause of the accident and on the basis of the findings a case will be registered accordingly.

He later disclosed that they are yet to take the Seppa EAC’s statement as he was brought back to Itanagar for medical treatment for his injuries.
