NAMSAI, Jan 16: Namsai district achieved the target of Open Defecation Free (ODF).The good news was announced today by the district administration in presence of various HoDs and public here today.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Namsai RK Sharma informed that Namsai has already achieved ODF status on December last; however official declaration has been made today.

‘It is great moment of us that our district has been declared ODF district,’ he said adding that two villages from Namsai have already won the Nirmal Gram Purushkar for cleanliness.

While congratulating the public, he urged the people to continue the maintain status.

Executive Engineer PHED&WS, Namsai,  Nich Raju  informed that the district has been declared ODF as per the  baseline  assessment and survey. He also acknowledged that there is some issue in remote villages related to unhygienic environment but it could be resolved after proper survey.

Among others, ZPC Namsai CK Maunglang, Assistant Engineer Mahadevpur Bhupen Khenlong also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile at least 28 staff from PHED &WS were felicitated for their contribution in raising awareness on ODF.
