ITANAGAR, Sep 3:  Papumpare Police today recovered a mutilated body of a male along the Itanagar-Hollongi highway.

Police has not been able to establish identify of the deceased as his head and neck portion has been mutilated beyond recognition. The victim who appears to be aged between 30-40 is of average height and strong built, fair in complexion and was found 150 metres away from the highway with his hands tied behind.

The body was first discovered by four school going students  on  Saturday  evening who reported  the matter to the Head GB  of Hollongi who further informed the Officer In-charge of Police station Balijan.

Police could not retrieve the body on the same day due to darkness. So a team was deployed to guard the body during the night and was recovered this morning only, informed Superintendent of Police, Papumpare, Tumme Amo. He further added that the dead body could be three-four days old.

The SP further informed that, the identity of the victim  is yet to ascertained but it seems to be murder due to hatred or revenge. 

The police team has searched thoroughly but no sign of identity, wallet etc, was found on the victim’s or in the surrounding areas except for a brass bangle on the right wrist. Red nylon rope and blue flat rope was used to tie his hands, Amo informed.

‘The body has been taken to TRIHMS Naharlagun for autopsy and it will be taken to RKM hospital morgue later. WT message is also sent to all OC’s of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh accordingly to verify any missing reports and/or to identify the body,’ the SP added. 

A case no 13/17 u/s 302/201 IPC has been registered in Balijan Police station.
