NAHARLAGUN, Jul 31: Former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki mooted a common dialect for all Tani communities of the state to generate brotherhood and unity. Tuki was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the office of the ‘Tani Idol’ a singing talent hunt here today.
While appreciating the organizing committee, Tuki who is also the Chief Patron of the event impressed that music cuts across religions and boundaries adding that the competition is not meant for a particular community but a platform to bring together everyone under one umbrella.
‘Tani Idol is an initiative to bring together communities who have similar dialect and way of life,’ said Tuki. He further urged the people not to mix indigenous music with modern music. “We should preserve and maintain our originality,” said the former CM.
While encouraging the singers, Tuki said: “Artist never dies. People will forget us one day, what we did during our tenure but artist will live forever with their creative works and contribution.”
Elaborating more about Tani Idol, Organizing Secretary Tani Idol, Ashok Sonam informed that, application to take part in the competition will be accepted from August 1 to 25next.
