ITANAGAR, Sep 13: Director Youth Affairs, DK Dinglow, on Wednesday handed over a cheque of Rs 2 Lakhs to Tsering Palmo as cash incentive for her successful summit of Mt. Lhotse (8516 Mtr), the fourth highest mountain in the world in Nepal Himalayas in 2012. She became the first Indian woman to have scaled the mighty Lhotse peak.

The cheque was handed over to her in presence of Joint Director Ramesh Linggi, Tapi Mra (APO) and Dr KR Meetei, in-charge Adventure Cell.

Hailing from Tashigoan Village, Upper Siang, Palmo also became the 1st Indian women to participate in the Everest marathon, the world’s highest marathon in 2012. She stood 1st position in the event.

She is presently camping in New Delhi and is planning on taking future adventure and mountaineering expeditions in Arunachal Himalayas.

The Director, Youth Affairs, praised her achievements in mountaineering and adventure sports and asked her to help the Department to explore the unexplored mountains of Arunachal Pradesh.
