PASIGHAT, Aug 18: The Summer Cup Football Tournament 2017 organized by All Borguli Students’ Union (ABSU) under the aegis of District Football Association at Borguli village general playground under Mebo Sub-Division ended on  Independence Day with MBFC lifting the cup while beating rival Seram United by 4-1.

Playing in the final Seram United also tried best to weaken the stronger MBFC who were seemed far more superior in all front of play right from the beginning. Out of 4 goals from MBFC only 1 goal could be scored from Seram United making score line 4-1. Among individual achievers, Mitin Tayeng was declared best player, Bolet Megu best defender, Siang Yirang best goalkeeper and Olik Tayeng highest scorer.

Attending as a Chief Guest, Mebo MLA cum Advisor to Chief Minister Lombo Tayeng advised the young players of the region to excel in whatever games and sports they like, as games & sports has enough quotas in all government departments today. While speaking on all his developmental works achieved so far and other undergoing schemes, Tayeng laid emphasis timely construction of Mebo-Dhola Road double laning which is in final stage of fund approval. And as a part of promotion of sport in the area, Tayeng has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 25 lakhs for development and construction of Borguli Football field which is lying dilapidated and uncared owing to encroachment from some of the villagers.

While gracing as Guest of honour, Lt. Col. CB Balwada, Education Officer, TCP Sigar Military Station encouraged the morale of the youths and said that, the Army is always ready to help promote the sports in the region.

On the part of organizing committee, ABSU President, Biswajit Tayeng expressed his union’s gratitude to Chief Guest Lombo Tayeng for sanctioning funds for promotion of sports at Borguli in particular and Mebo as a whole.
