NAMSAI, Jul 20: Hundreds of people comprising women, members of the business community, NGO teams and students participated in a mass cleanliness drive- cum-awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan organized by All Namsai District Students Union (ANDSU) in collaboration with District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Namsai, Ying Tai NGO and Bazar Welfare Committee, Namsai.
During the cleanliness drive, members cleared choked drains, vegetation and litter lying around the market areas and streets.
Thanking participants, president, ANDSU, Jaylai Manlai said ‘We want Namsai district to be one of the cleanest districts,’ adding that cleanliness is next to godliness, so everyone should adopt the habit.
While participating in the cleanliness drive, Urban Programme Officer (UPO) , Jumtum Potom also appealed to the denizens to keep their surroundings clean . Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not for a day only but we should follow it in day to day life to make the district clean, the official added.
