ITANAGAR, May 6: The Manipur Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) today announced to provide support to bring back Arunachalee students stranded in violence-hit Manipur. It also appealed to citizens not to believe unconfirmed news about the situation in Manipur.
Addressing the media persons at the press club today, MWSAP's Working President, N. Sudhir Luwang, informed the media that the society had conducted a meeting to discuss the situation in Manipur. We have decided to provide any necessary assistance to bring back the stranded students to Arunachal Pradesh. The MWSAP is communicating with both the Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur state governments to coordinate efforts, he said.
The society has also issued helpline numbers of its members stationed in Imphal, such as N.I Singh (9436059550) and Dr. A.D Singh (9436632958). The members are contacting institutes where Arunachalee students are stuck to provide assistance. The MWSAP has also requested parents and students to contact its members for help, informed Luwang.
To coordinate the efforts, the MWSAP has stationed helpline numbers in Naharlagun and Itanagar. Er. Ng. MWSAP General Secretary, Yumnam Vijay, also informed that the society, with the help of All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO), is trying to provide basic necessities such as food and medicine to the stranded students in Manipur. Finally, it has appealed to citizens not to believe unverified news without any confirmation.
